Cultivating Goodness

Cultivating Goodness

National, Tuesday 21, January 2014 There’s nothing secret about what makes Forever a unique and successful business. It’s all down to one thing; our aloe vera. Our tailored approach to supply and production of this powerful, natural ingredient allows us the freedom to give back to the local community, and helps preserve our environment.
Pure, stabilised aloe vera gel is the primary ingredient of our exceptional products and is at the heart of everything we do here at Forever. Maintaining this high quality is so important to us, that Forever actually owns the aloe plantations it uses, both in the Rio Grande Valley of southern Texas, and a 6,500-acre plantation in the Dominican Republic – the largest aloe plantation in the world.
When Rex Maughan created Forever Living Products, he knew it wasn’t in the best interest of the company to rely on third-party vendors for supplies. So, Forever secured not only its own aloe plantations, but also its manufacturing plants and storage facilities. This way, the company is able to control quality and cost every step of the way – starting with the raw materials and ending with the finished products.
Handled with care
From planting and tending the crop to harvesting it, our aloe plants are carefully nurtured with the same level of care and standards that we put into every one of our final products. Our farmers harvest our aloe by hand, processing the leaves within hours to produce the purest, freshest aloe vera gel and retaining all of its inherent qualities. We employ local farmers, providing a stable income for the surrounding community, and excellent working conditions.
Forever begins with pure inner leaf gel – believed to be the most beneficial part of the plant – and carefully adds other ingredients to produce our premium products. Unlike many other health and beauty manufacturers, our products are genuinely centered around the goodness of aloe vera, rather than adding only a token amount, just so it can be added to the label.
But, high quality consumer products aren’t the only reason our aloe is so special. With over 50 million aloe vera plants, Forever’s plantations work to cleanse the earth of two million tons of CO2 every year, meaning the company’s net carbon footprint actually has a positive effect on the environment. In addition to this, goats and sheep are used to naturally control weed growth and to provide 100% natural fertiliser, helping us to avoid chemical pesticides and herbicides.
Green in more ways than one
Unlike other companies that brag about environmental responsibility and minimal eco adjustments, Forever continually assesses its own practices in order to improve its green credentials. We even have certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – an independent organisation that evaluates companies’ environmental impact – and in 2006, we launched a formal environmental sustainability programme to challenge ourselves to do even more. Our documented Environmental Management System was certified to the international ISO 14000 standard, and we have maintained that certification every year since.

Forever Giving
Forever’s efforts to make the world a better place don’t stop there. Forever Giving, the charitable arm of Forever Living Products, works in partnership with global organisations to raise money and provide support for worthy causes. The charity specifically focuses on making a difference throughout the world by providing funds, facilities, and education, to help fight against poverty, hunger, and the lack of medical services available for children. The foundation also supports relief efforts in response to natural disasters, including supporting the victims of the recent Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
